Variables

Variables let you put live information into your welcome and goodbye messages. Type a variable in curly brackets, such as {user}, and the bot replaces it with the real value when the message is sent.

Example

Copy
Welcome {user} to {server}! You are member #{mCount}.

becomes

Welcome @Phil to Project Phil! You are member #1,204.

Variables work in both the Message and Footer fields. They are case-sensitive, so {mCount} works but {mcount} does not. Anything in curly brackets that isn't a variable listed below is left as it is.

Good to know

  • Times show in each reader's own time zone. {created}, {createdDate}, {joined}, {joinedDate}, {sCreated}, {date} and {time} use Discord timestamps, so everyone sees them in their local time and format.
  • Goodbye messages: the member has already left, so {user} may not display as a proper mention. {username} or {displayName} usually reads better. {mCount} is the count after they left.
  • Welcome messages: {joined} will nearly always say "a few seconds ago", because they've only just joined.
  • Link variables ({avatar}, {serverAvatar}, {sicon}, {sbanner}) show as a plain link in the message text.
