Install

1. File Upload

Download the latest version of URL Shortener from the Project Phil website.

1. Download and extract the zip file to your computer.
2. Upload the Link-Shortner folder to your server.

For example:

/home/Link-Shortner

The application entry point should be located at:

/home/Link-Shortner/index.js

2. Configure URL Shortener

Before starting URL Shortener, configure the config.js file.

Open the configuration file:

nano /home/Link-Shortner/config.js

Fill in all required configuration values and save the file.

3. Install URL Shortener

Change to the URL Shortener directory:

cd /home/Link-Shortner

Install the required Node.js packages:

npm install

Once the installation has completed, run the database migrations:

npm run db:run

Wait for the migrations to complete successfully before continuing.

4. Start URL Shortener

We recommend using a Screen Session so the application continues running after the terminal is closed.

Start URL Shortener:

node .
